How to choose POS displays for retail — the most common scenarios

How to choose POS displays for retail — the most common scenarios

You have a product and want to display it well in-store — but you're faced with a choice between more than a dozen types of stands, displays and cubes. Which one should you pick? In practice, the answer depends on three things: how much your product weighs, how much floor or counter space you have, and whether the display needs to stay the same or grow along with your range.

Below are six of the most common situations — and a specific solution for each.

1. Small products and leaflets at the checkout or reception

You have a small product, samples, leaflets or price lists that need to be within the customer's reach — on the counter, at the checkout or at reception. What matters most here is a compact size and stability despite the light weight.

Good options: counter displays, leaflet holders, cardboard counter presenters — all available immediately in Shop Labo Print, with full print personalisation.

2. Temporary promotions, events, entrance zones

The campaign runs for a week or a weekend — the stand needs to be set up quickly, then just as quickly packed away and moved to the next location or event.

Good options: A-boards, advertising cubes, elliptical totems — lightweight structures, easy to transport and assemble without tools.

3. Heavier products on the shelf — bottles, cans, cosmetics in large packaging

This is where the real difference between digital and offset printing begins. The standard modular stand in Shop Labo Print works well for lighter product ranges. If your product is heavier — bottles, cans, larger cosmetic packaging — you need a structure with a higher load capacity.

Modular stand (shop, digital) — cardboard, use: lighter product range, available immediately, ordered online.

Heavy-duty modular display stand — L10537 (offset) — EB-flute cardboard, use: bottles, cans and other heavier products, individual quote, offset printing.

4. A display that needs to grow along with your range

You start with a smaller display, but you know your range will expand — and you want to be able to add another module instead of ordering a whole new stand.

Two modular variants are available in offset printing technology, each built from four independent modules:

- L10222 — maximum shelf load 20 kg

- L10672 — different dimensions, maximum shelf load 16 kg

Both are made from EB-flute cardboard and can be freely expanded with additional modules as needed.

5. Limited sales floor space

A small shop, a drugstore, a stand near the entrance — every centimetre of floor space counts, but the product still needs to be displayed stably.

Shop Labo Print offers the Stand Classic 1 and Stand Classic 2, with defined outer dimensions (60x40x140 cm and 60x40x150 cm). If you need an even more compact structure with high load capacity at the same time, the offset range includes the compact 1/8-pallet shelf display — L10790, EB-flute cardboard, maximum shelf load 15 kg.

6. Multi-level display — books, albums, catalogues

The product needs to be shown in full view, side by side, not stacked — a typical situation when presenting books, albums and similar items.

The solution is a stepped display stand with six independent display levels — L11414, made from E-flute cardboard, with a maximum load of 12 kg per level. The stepped layout also works well for other products where a clear, individual presentation of each item matters.

Digital or offset — how to choose the technology

- Print run: digital — from 1 piece; offset — larger print runs

- Ordering: digital — self-service, online; offset — quote from a Labo Print account manager

- Load capacity / construction: digital — standard; offset — higher load capacity, modular constructions

- Finishing: digital — print personalisation; offset — additional varnish or film lamination available

- Lead time: digital — standard, immediate; offset — depends on the project

All five offset display stands already have ready-made production tools (die-cutting tools) — production does not require investment in new tooling. Technical details and a quote are available from your Labo Print account manager.
